Chloe had wondered whether to go through with the harvest party once Lalo had disappeared, but as they say, the show must go on. There's still a lot worth celebrating, and people need something hopeful after the mess last month. Luckily her house had made it through everything all right.

The poster had said to wear a costume, so she's hoping to see a lot of those, and she’d recruited some people to help her put together the menu exactly to Lalo’s specifications, so unfortunately no one is safe from British Potatoes. There are even candles for the birthday cake.

Chloe herself is dressed as a sexy lumberjack, with one of Lalo’s old flannels tied in a knot under her breasts and denim cutoffs made from the jeans Kostya had gotten blood on (shh). She's got a fire roaring, because otherwise she’d freeze.

Doctor! Yes, we’re well. Ulfrùn missed all of the excitement inside a friend’s cellar and my own home was well defended. Most of the true damage happened before the attack. You seem to have fared well as well.

[ He's very much a go with the flow sort, so when she grips his elbow in greeting instead, he's quick to simply pat her arm with his other hand and smile. ]

[She laughs.] If I had understood the event better, perhaps I would have come as the All-Father.

Oh no, no it's all about coming as you please, however you please! And you've nailed it, as the kids say.

[ What kids, where — he doesn't explain. But he's already smiling about the question. ]

Love the cloak! Fashionable, delightful, I only lament not having one of my own.

I'm thinking of keeping it in case we get draining cold fog again. It might protect her, at least until she grows too big for it.

Good of you to think of her, of course, but what about you?

[ She's made it through this long, there's every reason to assume Randvi is well equipped, but that won't stop him asking the question anyway. ]

I do not think Ulfrùn’s little cloak would fit me.

[She’s teasing, but she says it very seriously.]

But I do have more warm weather clothing than she does, and my power.

Would it fit me? I think it's quite fetching.

[ Just as seriously, he teases back. He can't resist. ]

You have that power now, though? Where you don't feel the cold?

Perhaps as a hat.

[Ulfrùn is growing rapidly but she's still not very big.]

No, I can create fire from nothing. There is a power that stops you from feeling the cold completely?

I know someone who does have that power, yes. I know a few others who can make fire, too, so — seems there's quite a bit going around.

[ With the former ability, there's a downside with it, a price. As with all of them. ]

Do you have it well controlled?

It must be convenient in this place, though I'd imagine it has its downside as well.

Typically I have strong control over my power, but I can still inadvertently cause fires at times of high emotion.
