But it's a shame that so many of them are so young. It's one thing for a middle-aged man like himself to meet his end, but Levi is still just a boy.

"We were frozen in by the sea. In the spring and summer months it thaws enough to sail through, but the thaw never came." Year after year, the thaw never came.

It's his silent hope as well, but he knows better than to ring his alarm bells in front of a lad who's already given up on any sort of happiness or stability.

"We'll get more sun," he adds, because it's true. Even if the thaw doesn't come, they'll be given more sunlight. "That'll be beneficial for all of us."

"I guess it would...people probably find it hard to sleep too." And that could make them more on edge than usual. Levi never had trouble sleeping when it was light out, though...no more trouble than usual, at least.
